Hey guys,

So I have a friend who had an offline Litecoin wallet which was last used in 2013 and had about 14 BTC (Bitcoins) in it, during which time, a backup of the files in the .dat format was taken.

Since then, the system has been formatted several times yet not corrupting the wallet backup file (which was stored in multiple places – pendrive, portable hard-drive etc.).

What should we do now to safely retrieve those coins?

The Litecoin application says that it has to "sync" data worth about 150-200 weeks. Should we just go ahead and sync it (which might take about 4-5 days) or is there another way around it?

Any help in the form of pictorial tutorial would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
