I dont consider myself a trader and prefer not to watch my investments. Im wondering can I just set and forget bitcoin or do I have increased risk?

Im confused with this potential bitcoin split. If it splits and everyone sells the bitcoin version that I have and purchases the other version. Then my version will fall to the flaw.

In my crude understanding this is how it works? am I wrong? Can I set and forget it or do I need to keep an eye on it?
